What is “Ask Your Library”?
“Ask Your Library” is an AI chat for subscribers that lets you query the books in your library in plain, natural language. You ask a question, get an easy-to-understand answer in seconds, and jump with a single click to the exact passage in the book(s) the answer came from — no flipping through pages or searching the index for the right chapter.
-
How does it work?
You simply type your question the way you’d ask a colleague. The AI understands what you’re asking, finds the relevant passages across the books in your subscription, and phrases a clear answer for you. The content always comes from Rheinwerk’s books; the AI handles the understanding, searching, and wording.
-
Who can use “Ask Your Library”?
“Ask Your Library” is available to all customers with an active SAP PRESS subscription, be it a full or a topic subscription, annual or monthly. “Ask Your Library” is not available to buyers of standalone e-books.
-
How much does it cost?
Nothing extra. “Ask Your Library” is included in all our subscriptions, monthly and annual alike, at no additional cost.
-
Which books does “Ask Your Library” search?
It answers based on the e-books in your subscription library. For a single question it can pull together relevant passages from several books at once, so you get a complete picture rather than a single isolated result.
-
I bought a standalone e-book from Rheinwerk — can I search it with “Ask Your Library”?
Unfortunately, no. “Ask Your Library” only works with books included in a subscription, not with individually purchased e-books.
-
How reliable are the answers?
Answers are built on verified knowledge from our experienced expert authors — the same standard reference works you’d consult directly. And if a question can’t be answered from the books in your library, “Ask Your Library” tells you so openly instead of inventing an answer, so you always know what an answer is based on.
However, while the AI-generated answers are based on our books, AI can make mistakes. Please double-check responses against the source books listed at the bottom of the answer.
-
Does “Ask Your Library” show me which books the information came from?
Yes. Every answer references the book titles and page numbers, and you can click straight through to that passage to read more in context.
-
Can I ask follow-up questions?
Absolutely. You can refine your question in dialogue and work step by step toward the right solution.
-
Can I keep multiple conversations going?
Yes. You can start as many separate chats as you like to keep topics apart, and return to earlier questions anytime through your chat history.
-
What kinds of questions can I ask? Can I ask about general topics?
“Ask Your Library” is built to answer questions based on the contents of books in your subscription. It won’t answer general questions unrelated to our books.
-
Can “Ask Your Library” create code, configuration steps, or examples?
It can! Within the scope of the contents of our books. One caveat: It’s AI, and it can make mistakes. Therefore:
Rheinwerk Publishing makes no warranties or representations with respect to the content of AI-generated answers and specifically disclaims any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose. Rheinwerk Publishing assumes no responsibility for any errors that may appear in answers generated by “Ask Your Library”.
-
What languages are supported?
“Ask Your Library” will respond in the language of the question. Code, configuration steps, and direct quotes are kept in English.
-
Is my chat data private? What happens to the questions I ask?
Your chat data is accessible to our technical team to analyze AI usage in our subscription product. Your questions and the associated answers will be stored in our database until you delete them from your account. We do not allow the underlying AI model to use your questions for training.
-
Are there limits to how many questions I can ask?
Because it’s included free with your subscription, there’s an allowance of 450,000 tokens per rolling 7-day period (a token is a unit of AI compute). In practice, that’s 20 to 30 in-depth questions per week.
-
How can I get the most out of my weekly allowance?
Every question you ask uses tokens, and follow-up questions use a little more than you might expect: Within a single chat, the AI re-reads the earlier conversation each time you send a new message, so the longer a thread grows, the more tokens each additional question consumes. A few habits stretch your allowance further:
- Start a new chat when you move to a new topic, instead of piling unrelated questions into one long thread. That way each question doesn’t carry the weight of everything discussed before it.
- Keep follow-ups focused on the current topic, and use them to refine rather than to change subjects.
- Ask specific, well-scoped questions rather than very broad ones.
- Use your chat history to revisit an earlier answer instead of re-asking the same question in a new conversation.
-
Can I buy additional questions or tokens?
Additional tokens can’t currently be purchased. Your usage is measured over a 7-day rolling period; thus, a share of your allowance might free up every day.
