Some of the tools discussed in the book are practically obsolete like SXDA and CATT. The discussion on the newer tool ADM is 'Very' high level. This is not a cook book or guide on how to do a SAP data migration, and doesnt even go in to the different tools and techniques required for different SAP modules or the interdependancies. The explanation of LSMW is from a non-technical consultant and in reality it's necessary to complement this with technical programming which is completed omitted in the whole book not even example programs. You can get more detailed information for free over the net. The price is not justified in my opinion as an SAP consultant with 12 years experience, and the book is a real let down. It's ok for people who just want a high level flavour of what data migration is but the title is misleading. I think it should be a free ebook, or an introduction to another more detailed data migration book. I have grave doubts that the author could perform a whole SAP data migration without help.
EDITOR'S NOTE:
The general purpose of this book (as mentioned prominently in the first paragraph of the description) is to help readers _avoid_ programming in data migration projects. Therefore, it focuses on the tools provided by SAP and explicitly does not cover any programming techniques.
Editor and authors do not share the opinion that LSMW is covered on a too high level. The description is almost 100 pp. long and gives detailed and hands-on insight into all steps necessary in a migration project. Admittedly, some consultants will probably have gained more experience in their carreer than a book can ever provide.
At the time the book was published some customers still used the old CATT. So both, authors and editor thought keeping the CATT chapter in this updated edition might be useful to some readers. CATT is covered on 20pp., while the new eCATT is covered on roughly 50pp.
The coverage of ADM is mainly a functional description. This is due to the fact that ADM--at least at the time of writing--was available as a consulting solution from SAP Consulting only, customers were not able to use the tools by themselves.

Light version aimed more for persons wanting to get an overview of Data Transfer. No real in depth technical detail on LSMW functionality or specific situational problem solving approaches. Authors seem to favor using Excel and Visula Basic to format data instead of standard ABAP functionality.
