  2. Excellent Start for SAP Document Management System

Posted by Christian Bolu, PhD on Dec 17th, 2010

This is an excellent starting book for developing digital asset management repository for manufacturing and design outfits. However, this book is very useful for initiating the development of institutional repositories in higher education and research such as for thesis, intellectual properties as well as managing the whole research process.

Discussion on the optimisation of heavy consumers using SAP cache servers is discussed. This will assist in developing repository for student downloads in large libraries. Also, the discussion on the use of content servers, which can be useful during the academic year-end, a usually peak periods for producing large quantities of academic intellectual properties such as thesis, conference papers, faculty appraisal and graduation documentations can be helpful.

Introduction of the SAP Easy Document Management System Interface provides a cheap interface for students and faculty. however, a brief review comparing the SAP DMS with OpenSource institutional repositories such as Eprints, DSpace needs to be discussed for completeness.
